PPE – 3M Fake or Expired 1860 Masks hit the UAE

UAE has asked everyone to wear face masks and to practice other healthy measures due to Covid-19.

With so many dealers cashing in on the Covid-19 virus requirements around PPE situation, buyers are warned to beware of corrupt sellers pretending to sell 3M certified products, but supplying fake, counterfeit or facemasks that are past their ‘use-by’ date through fake Lot numbers.

To purchase 3M stock through its network, the process is rigid, and they will never vary their process and they will never provide Lot numbers to any traders and for Resellers, 3M Lot numbers are not utilised.

During recent investigations and as a result, product seizures across the UAE, thousands of fake masks were confiscated and destroyed. They were of unknown origin although many were sourced from Asia whilst others were expired genuine 3M products. 3M 1860 masks have a shelf life of 5 years. Must counterfeit or expired stock is being destroyed across global borders. Be wary of inexpensive masks from brokers requesting upfront deposits, no SGS inspections and supposed 3M Lot numbers in warehouses. 3M only provide Lot numbers to confirmed buyers as a Proof of Stock and this would only be released typically to the Buyer’s Attorney from the Seller’s Attorney.

Nitrile Gloves – Powder Free – Enforced Shortage

The most significant shortage in PPE globally right now is in nitrile gloves, surgical gowns and nitrile gloves. Due to the ban of products originating from China, and from some Vietnamese manufacturers, the price of gloves is rising exponentially. Countries are having to rebuild their stockpiles after destroying high volumes of non-compliant stock. All glove manufacturers are also at maximum production capacity also. We anticipate rapid price increases globally (already occurring in the United States and Europe markets) by 2 to 3 times of the market rate.

Protecting your Purchase

For any 3M purchase, 3M or Approved Distributors will provide certification of stock during the sales and purchase agreement phase and inspection / SGS inspections should always be conducted prior to final payment. No deposits should be paid upfront, 3M’s preference is 100% Escrow.
